Innocent Masuku is wowing audiences across the world with his powerhouse emotive vocals. The Operatic Tenor was a Finalist of 2024 Britain’s Got Talent, with judges hailing him as one of the greatest opera singers in the show’s history, and Classic FM praising his performance of "Now We Are Free" as “second to none.” 

Innocent’s debut single is out on all main digital platforms. Innocent's sound reaches beyond the classical genre, bridging tradition and modernity, the record blends original compositions with reimagined classics. With bold cinematic melodies, unexpected collaborations, and stories of hope and empowerment, the album weaves together influences from his South African heritage, operatic foundation, and passion for iconic crossover anthems.

A former member of Cape Town Opera and a current member of the English National Opera, Innocent has performed in Porgy and Bess with Eric Owens with the Dutch National Opera. Also playing Borsa in Rigoletto and Tamino in The Magic Flute. Accolades include master classes with Maestro Kamal Khan and Willard White. The Merit Award in the 2019 SAMRO competition, the Drake Calleja Trust Award, sponsorship from The Tillet Trust Fund, The Oppenheimer International Scholarship, The Countess Of Munster Musical Award.

He is currently working with Garsington opera company as Eurimaco in Claudio Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d’Ulisse.

This special evening looks at how opera, soul and gospel music are connected. It will take us from Puccini and Aretha Franklin to Verdi and Etta James, Bellini and Nina Simone, and from spirituals and gospel songs that really show how deep opera can be. Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, the conductor, will lead the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, with three amazing singers who are making their first appearances at The Grange Festival. Innocent Masuku, a tenor from South Africa who was a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, really won hearts with his version of Nessun Dorma. He’s joined by Melody Wilson, an American mezzo-soprano who has recently sung with The Metropolitan Opera Seattle Opera and Carnegie Hall.
